What Does "No-Dig" Fence Installation Mean?
No-dig installation means the posts get driven into the ground instead of set in concrete. No hole, no concrete waiting to harden before the fence goes up.
A traditional install
A fencing contractor digs a hole about two feet deep, sets a post in it, and fills the hole with concrete. Making that hole means taking out the packed soil that was holding the fence up. What surrounds the concrete afterward is loose dirt.
In Northeast Florida, heavy rain soaks that loose dirt and the concrete starts to shift. The post is only as steady as the loose dirt around it, and it gives a little more with every gust of wind.

We drive the post four feet into the ground. Driving packs the soil tight around the post instead of taking it out, so the post is gripped by ground nobody has loosened.
The post runs four feet into the ground and four feet above it, and the fence anchors to that post. Whether it’s a four feet tall fence or ten, the post is what withstands the wind.

“No-dig means a spike you tap into the ground.”
That is the panel kit from the hardware store. A few inches deep, four feet tall at most, picket styles only. Ours is a steel or aluminum post driven four feet down with the fence attached to it.
“Concrete spreads the load over a bigger surface.”
Only while the soil around it holds still. Concrete is only as steady as the loose dirt it sits in, and saturated Florida soil does not hold still.
“Driving posts is a shortcut contractors use to save money.”
