Storm damage we replace
Six things wind does to a fence. Four of them are worse than they look.
Whole line down: Multiple sections flat, panels scattered. The fastest fix is a full replacement, because piecing a line back together from salvaged panels leaves you with mismatched runs and posts that already failed once.
Posts snapped at grade: Wood snaps where moisture collects at ground level. Once posts break at the soil line, the panels above them have nothing holding them, even if the boards look untouched.
Leaning or racked sections: A run that shifted out of plumb has already lost its footing. Concrete footings crack and let go under sustained wind load, and a leaning fence does not straighten back out.
Tree or limb impact: A falling limb concentrates enormous force in one spot. It usually takes out rails and posts well beyond the obvious break, so the damaged area is larger than the visible one.
Gate and hardware failure: Gates carry the most stress in a storm. Racked frames, torn hinges, and bent latches are common, and a gate that will not close is a security problem.
Panels standing, posts compromised: The one homeowners miss. Your fence survived looking fine, but posts moved in saturated soil. It will come down in the next storm unless the foundation gets addressed now.
Should you repair or replace a storm damaged fence?
Repair makes sense when damage is isolated and the posts are sound. Replacement makes sense when posts have snapped or shifted, when more than about a third of the line is affected, or when the fence was already near the end of its life. We walk the line and tell you which one you are looking at, in writing, before you decide.
Repair is usually right when
- One or two panels are damaged and every post is still plumb and solid
- The fence is under about five years old and in good condition otherwise
- Damage is limited to hardware, a gate, or a few boards
- The materials still match what is available today
Replacement is usually right when
- Posts snapped at grade or shifted in saturated soil
- More than roughly a third of the run is affected
- The fence was already 10 years or older
- Footings have cracked, which is foundation failure rather than surface damage
- You want it to hold next time, not just look right this time
Will insurance Cover My Fence Replacement?
Wind damage is usually covered under the other structures part of your policy. Whether you see a payout is a different question. Florida named-storm deductibles often run two percent of your home’s value, which is 8,000 dollars on a 400,000 dollar home.

Should I repair or replace my storm damaged fence?

Will my homeowners insurance cover it?
Wind damage usually is covered, under other structures coverage. Two things decide whether you see money: your named-storm deductible, often two percent of your home’s value, and whether your policy pays replacement cost or actual cash value. Get the written estimate before you call your carrier. We document everything. We do not file or handle claims.
Do I need a permit?
Usually not. Under Florida law, single-family residential work contracted at or under $7,500 is exempt from local building permits, which covers a lot of our residential fence installs. Counties and cities cannot override that. Two exceptions to know: properties in a flood hazard area still require a permit, and your HOA can still require its own architectural approval. If a permit is required for your job, we pull it for you.
What happens to my old fence?
We remove it, haul it away, and dispose of it at licensed facilities. No debris left behind.
